Top 10 Baby Shower Gifts (That WON’T Be on Her Registry)

Unique Baby Shower Gifts To Pamper New Parents

the perfect gift

As you glance at that beautiful soft pink piece of stationary on your desk, your mind wanders back to the thrilling moment your best friend told you she was expecting. You screeched and laughed and your eyes welled up with tears. You smile to yourself. You’ve never been more excited to meet a tiny person in your life. You can’t imagine how incredibly cool this miniature version of your bestie will be. You’re going to be the “fun” aunt. You know, the one who lets her try on makeup and the one who she calls about her crushes. And as for your best friend – you’re going to be there for her every step of the way as she transitions into motherhood.

Starting now!

You check the invitation and pull up the registry for her baby shower.

You scroll through her Babylist registry, eager to pick and provide her with the BEST thing on there. Purchased, purchased, purchased... Agh! Everything good has already been bought!

If you’re having trouble finding the perfect gift for a beloved expectant mother – try thinking outside of the box!

Here are some unique baby shower gift ideas that she didn’t think to put on her list (but she’ll be glad you bought for her!):

1. A Food Service/ Food Gift Cards

New moms don’t want to have to worry about what to cook for dinner. After the meal trains have ended, gift cards for services like Door Dash, Uber Eats or even restaurant gift cards can be a huge help on nights when no one wants to cook.

2. AmazonFamily Subscription

A subscription to AmazonFamily comes with up to 20% off diapers, wipes and other baby items - delivered straight to your door!

3. A Prenatal Massage

Towards the end of pregnancy when new moms are in a constant sate of “uncomfortable”, a prenatal massage can be quite a treat. Make sure you find someone who specializes in prenatal massage as different techniques are used for pregnant clients. These techniques are specific to the anatomical changes a woman undergoes during pregnancy and will in no way cause harm to the mother or the baby.

4. A House Cleaning Service

The last thing a new mom should be worried about is cleaning her home. Within the first 6 weeks postpartum, it can even be dangerous for a new mom to exert herself by cleaning. And yet, most of us desire a clean and tidy space. Hiring someone to clean her home during this exhausting time might be the nicest thing you’ve ever done for her!

5. Wash and Fold Laundry Service

Similar to a cleaning service, a Wash and Fold Laundry Service can be such a blessing – especially during those early days. Some of them will come to your home , pick up your dirty clothes, and return them clean and folded the next day. It will feel like magic when the soiled onesies are suddenly back, nice and clean. AMAZING.

6. Doula Services

What could be better for an expecting or postpartum mom than a doula!? Becoming a mother can be incredibly overwhelming and exhausting. I might be biased, but having a doula during this hard and beautifully transformative time can be life changing. Doulas provide genuine and unbiased emotional, physical, and informational support throughout pregnancy, labor and postpartum. Does she need someone to mover her into different positions because she has an epidural? DOULA. Does she need someone to talk through the pros and cons of sleep training? DOULA. Does she need to vent to someone about how her mother-in-law is driving her crazy? DOULA. Does she need someone to look after the baby while she takes a shower and an hour long nap? DOULA. We can provide her with whatever kind of support she’s needing – morning or night!

7. A gift certificate to see an IBCLC

If the mother-to-be plans to breastfeed, this is a WONDERFUL gift. I would dare to say that most people who choose to breastfeed struggle in one way or another. Just because breastfeeding is physiologically normal and natural does NOT mean that it automatically comes easily. Seeing an IBCLC (An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) can, in some cases, save someone’s breastfeeding relationship from ending prematurely.

8. Placenta Encapsulation Services

Okay, this one is not going to be for everyone, BUT, for the more open-minded new mom, placenta encapsulation services could be a great treat! Potential benefits of consuming one’s placenta include:

  • Reduced incidents of postpartum depression

  • Fewer mood swings

  • Increased milk supply

  • Higher energy

  • More rapid recovery

  • Higher iron levels

  • Less postpartum hair loss

  • And more!

9. Date Night Gift Certificate (With an offer to babysit!)

Now this one is just fun. Surprise the new mom (and dad) with a gift certificate to do something fun! (A movie, Top Golf, A cooking class, Tickets to a comedy show) Offer to watch the new baby for the evening and get your fill of sweet baby snuggles. (Win win!)
